About Cashiers / Glenville NC

Glenville is located in the Western NC, South West of Asheville and only about five miles North of Cashiers on Route 107. It borders Thorpe Reservoir, also known as Lake Glenville, on the East providing all varieties of water sports and activities.

Lake Glenville, with a water surface area of 1,500 acres and a shoreline stretching 26 miles, has the highest elevation of any lake East of the Mississippi at 3,942 feet. During the summer months, the lake is teeming with activity ranging from swimming, boating, water skiing, or the pinnacle of waterside relaxation, fishing. Our lake is home to a variety of fish including Trout, Bream, Walleye, and small and large mouth Bass. Take a tranquil cruise down the lake aboard a pontoon boat and witness its three majestic cascading waterfalls or stay ashore and enjoy the sandy banks and waterfront atmosphere.

Many golf courses dot the surrounding communities of Sapphire and Highlands. The Country Club of Sapphire Valley golf course, originally designed by George Cobb and recently updated by Gill Bergin, sits on a level valley floor that is unique for a "mountain" course.  It has fabulous mountain views from every hole and contains a practice facility without rival in the area with a putting green, driving range, and private lessons with its PGA Pro staff.
