Highland stands at an average elevation of 4118 feet at the Southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Highlands boasts of four different theatres, including the Highlands Playhouse and the Highlands Performing Arts Center, which host regular events including concerts, plays, movies, auctions, and much more. The Fine Art Center/Bascom-Louise Gallery provides high quality exhibits and comprehensive educational experiences through diverse programs. The Hudson Library provides Western North Carolina with six public libraries including the Highlands location which boasts over 20,000 volumes for all genres and age groups, a selection of over 800 videos and even 650 audio books on either CD or tape.
Delectable culinary experiences are to be had with many fine dining choices. Six of our restaurants have even received awards from Wine Spectator, a lifestyle magazine for the wine connoisseur. Madison´s Restaurant & Wine Garden presents a unique yet familiar taste with their signature Elevated Southern cuisine. Cyprus delivers a one of a kind take on international cuisine. Beyond their extensive house menu, they feature a varying regional menu each night such as Thai and South American specials.
